Website Migration
-
Q: What does the web site migration service involve? Will my website be secure?
A: If your present hosting provider can no longer fulfill the needs of your website, or if you go through regular downtime, or if you are made to wait for hours for the customer service team to respond to you, it may be a clever idea to swap your hosting provider, i.e. to migrate all the files for your websites together with your databases from your current provider to your future provider. At jCloudHost, we are aware that this can be hard & time–consuming. Because of this, we will perform all that for you at no cost! Our trained technical staff representatives will move your site content from your present hosting provider to us. Our techs have a lot of experience with website migration and are able to handle anything – from a normal WordPress–based blog or Joomla™ CMS–powered site, to a highly complex, custom–built application.
-
Q: How long will the website migration process take?
A: There are plenty of aspects to keep in mind – the total number of files, the physical size of the database, the complexity of the web site itself and the current workload of our website migration experts, etc. Still, we do try to implement all web site migrations in a 48–hour time period. Less sizeable web sites are transferred faster – typically in under 24 hours.
-
Q: My privacy is essential for me. What information do you need?
A: Yes. We’ll require the name of the web site that you’d like us to move. We will also need a means to log into your present web hosting account so that we can get the content pertaining to your web site.
-
Q: My present hosting account has sensitive data inside. How can I rely on you?
A: Our Privacy Policy is an indivisible part of the contract that we will have with you as a client. We’re committed to protecting the security of the personal details collected from the clients. To do so, we use technical safety measures to prevent the loss, the abuse, the alteration or the illegal leakage of the personal info under our control. The security measures include, but are not limited to: physical, digital and administrative methods to protect and secure the info that we assemble on the World Wide Web. When we request customers to submit financial info (for instance, a debit card number), this info is masked using the SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption technique.
-
Q: What about downtime? Will my website be offline?
A: While we migrate your site, it will be available both in your web hosting account with us and in your account with your old hosting provider. When the migration is done, we will make certain that everything is working properly and that the integrity of your content is not affected before telling you that the transfer is finished. After that, we will instruct you how to move the domain name to your hosting account with us and how to edit your DNS records.
-
Q: Will my old web hosting provider need to provide any info/help?
A: Nope. We will never touch base with your web hosting provider about anything. They won’t be aware of the website transfer either.
-
Q: Does it make a difference what platform my current hosting provider is using?
A: We can transfer your site from any web hosting provider or any Linux–based web hosting platform on condition that we can obtain access to the Control Panel and there’s FTP access available. The only web sites that we cannot transfer are the ones based on closed–source software applications like Wix, BaseKit, Jimdo, Website Tonight, Four Square and Mr Site.
