If you have checked out many websites, you have probably stumbled upon some error message from time to time. An error may take place if the web server cannot process a request (Error 400), if you must log in to see some content and you have not done so (Error 401), if you are not allowed to access a webpage (Error 403) or if a link leads to a file that is not on the hosting server (Error 404). Encountering this sort of messages can often be irritating as the pages don't have anything in common with the actual Internet site. That’s why some website hosting service providers allow you to set your own error pages that will match the style of your own website and which can have any content that you want - details why the error has occurred, a suggestion how to proceed or even some humorous remark. This sort of function can help you keep the visitor on the website irrespective of the error and the reason for it.

Custom Error Pages in Cloud Hosting

You can set up custom error pages for any of your sites with ease if you use any of our Linux cloud hosting packages. This can easily be done from the Hosted Domains section of the Hepsia CP, which comes with all accounts and once you go there, you can set your custom made pages independently for any domain or subdomain. You have to upload the files to your account beforehand and input the links to them during the process. This function may be de-activated at any time and the options you'll be able to select from are a standard page from our system or a default Apache server page. Tailor-made error pages may be set with an .htaccess file too. The file should be put in the domain or subdomain folder and it should include some system code and links to the pages. If you are not tech-savvy, you can copy the whole content you'll need for the file from our Help section.

Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you host your Internet sites in a semi-dedicated server account from our company, you can set tailor-made error pages for each of them with ease using our custom Hepsia hosting Control Panel. With a couple of clicks in the Hosted Domains section, you could change the default setting from a system page to a tailor-made one for each of the four error types. All you must do is supply a link to every file that you've uploaded before that and then save the change. If necessary, you'll be able to revert this change whenever you want and in exactly the same way. If you wish, you can use an .htaccess file too. It has to be created/uploaded within the domain or subdomain folder linked to the website whose error pages you intend to alter and the content for this kind of file can be found in our Help article on this matter.
